Let’s chat about some of my faves…

We all know that anti-reflective coatings are an essential part of any eyewear order. Not only do they remove reflections and glare, but they also enhance the clarity and comfort of our vision.

Anti-reflective coatings are particularly beneficial for our patients who spend a lot of time in front of a computer, as they reduce eye strain and fatigue. They also improve night vision by reducing the glare from headlights and streetlights.

With so many coating options on the market I know it can be hard to decide what will be the best fit for you as the eyewear stylist to recommend to your patients. We all want to offer only the best and want the patient to be happy with their lenses. In the last 8 years I have tried a couple of different options and have narrowed down the top 4 coatings that I consistently use with great results.

Crizal Sapphire HR
Over the last year Crizal Sapphire has done a rebrand, formaly known as CrizaI Sapphire 360 the now improved Sapphire HR was recetnly introduced. I recently had the opportunity to test our this coating and I have to say I really loved the upgrades. I noticed how it helped to minimize scratches, repeled oil, and is easy to clear. I recommend Sapphire HR to my patients who value having the best of the best when it comes to their anti-reflective coating.
PRO TIP: I love recommending Sapphire HR for my patients with an oily T-zone. Patients with this skin type tend to get more smudging on their lenses & Sapphire HR makes it easier to clean their lenses.

Crizal Rock
Rock is for the patient that values scratch resistance over everything else. Crizal rock is 3x more scratch resistant than the entry level crizal lenses. Over the last year this has been a go to for me and I have to say I have received great feedback from patients.

Crizal Easy
This is for my patients who may want to stick to a certain budget, but still want to have a quality anti-reflective coating. I also love this option as an introductory coating, every once in a while I will encounter a patient to wants to opt out of a coating due to a bad experience with a previous coating or has heard that anti-reflective coating are not necessary (We know this isn't true) This is a great choice!

Crizal Prevencia
This is for the patient that really values blue light blocking...Now I know blue light blocker coatings are a hot topic of debate... Do they work or not?! Regardless of this many patients either truly love them or have heard so much about them in the last 3 years that they have interest in trying it out. In any case my choice is Crizal Prevencia this coating will also offer an anti-reflective coating & similar benefits to sapphire HR, but the main benefit is it's blue light blocking abilities.

With so many options remember to do research, meet with your reps and of course try the product out yourself... If you love it your patients will too!
